The Ministry of Finance bears primary responsibility for preparation of issues relating to the World Bank, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB).

Primary responsibility for preparation of issues relating to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) lies with the Bank of Finland, while the Ministry for Foreign Affairs is responsible for preparing issues that relate to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The Ministry of Finance cooperates with the Bank of Finland and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland on issues related to the IMF and EBRD.

The Ministry's tasks also include monitoring the economic issues decided in the G20 and the preparation of EU views in relation to them, Nordic economic cooperation, and issues that concern the Paris Club and EU macro-financial assistance.
