AuroraAI operating model

The AuroraAI programme develops an operating model which will support the development of public organisations’ activities in a human-centric and ethically sustainable manner as they transition to the era of artificial intelligence. With the help of artificial intelligence and the operating model, such stakeholders as public agencies could direct clients to services relevant to their personal life events or situations with increased efficiency and clarity.

The operating model will contain examples of decisions and measures that a public organisation could, assisted by AI, use to organise its activities for supporting people in different life situations. As a whole, the operating model will consist of a description of key perspectives and interdependencies, tools that support the transition, and sample implementations.

The operating model would offer organisations AI-assisted help in arranging services together with providers in different sectors. Cooperation across sectoral boundaries will play a key role in the success of the transition and the implementation of the operating model.

In 2021–2022, the operating model will be developed in collaboration with pilot organisations. The goal is that the operating model could be deployed to respond to selected life events by the end of 2022.

The work on the operating model will be conducted openly, and you can participate in it on the #toimintamalli channel of the AuroraAI programme’s Slack network.

Goals of the AuroraAI operating model

1. Human-centric development of activities

The AuroraAI operating model will support public organisations in human-centric and AI-assisted development of their activities.

A key goal is that such stakeholders as public agencies together with service providers could use artificial intelligence to support people in different life situations better and more efficiently.

2. Overall examination of the transition to human-centric and AI-assisted activities

The AuroraAI operating model will help public organisations examine the transition to human-centric and AI-assisted activities holistically from different perspectives.

3. Organising activities that support users in different situations and life events

The AuroraAI model will help organisations develop their activities (and services), making it possible to support people in different life situations and events and organisations in different business transactions.

Outputs of the AuroraAI operating model

1. A frame of reference for the transition to human-centric and AI-assisted activities

The frame of reference will build a big picture of the transition to human-centric and AI-assisted activities with its main perspectives (including strategy, management, services, competence, resource allocation, core activities and information management) and interdependencies.

2. A toolkit for making the transition to human-centric and AI-assisted activities

The tools will help public organisations change their activities in concrete terms and transition towards a human-centric society that exploits artificial intelligence. These tools will include situational awareness of welfare, future outlooks for selected target groups, tools for managing your personal well-being and ethical tools.

3. Sample implementations of the transition to human-centric and AI-assisted activities

Together with the pilot organisations, sample implementations of the definition, realisation and development of the transition will be created.
