In its first meeting on Friday 7 January, the ministerial working group on COVID-19 was briefed on the epidemiological situation, the spread of the Omicron variant, the burden on and capacity of the healthcare system, and the progress of vaccinations.

The economy will grow rapidly in 2021 and 2022, although growth will be slower than was expected at the turn of the year, due to the acceleration in the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictive measures.

This year, gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to grow by 3.4%. Moreover, GDP is expected to grow by 3.0% in 2022, by 1.5% in 2023 and by 1.4% in 2024.

Model for cooperation between authorities in a financial crisis revised

Financing provided to make digital support a permanent service for citizens and businesses

The Ministry of Finance has granted the Digital and Population Data Services Agency EUR 1.8 million for building an operating model for digital support. A pilot project is to be completed in 2022, and the model is to be later adopted nationwide as a permanent service. The financing was granted from the Programme for the Promotion of Digitalisation. One of the programme objectives is to expand the national operating model to cover digital support to business operators.
