Risk management

Risk management is part of the management and guidance of government organisations. It supports these organisations in achieving their objectives and in identifying opportunities and threats relating to their operations.

The elements of risk management must be adapted to each organisation’s operating environment and practices, as different government agencies may need different practical methods. Government agencies and public bodies are responsible for incorporating risk management into their activities, decision-making, management and supervisor work.

In order to support the management and planning of risk management in government agencies, the Advisory Council on Internal Control and Risk Management has published instructions and models for the arrangement of risk management and to support the drafting of documentation.

The Risk Management Division functions as the cooperation body for the ministries’ risk management functions. The risk management division coordinates risk management in ministries, develops and supports harmonised risk management procedures and produces information to support risk-based decision-making.
