Kristiina Kokko appointed as State Secretary to Ministers Ikonen and Multala
In its plenary session on Thursday 4 July, the Finnish Government appointed Kristiina Kokko, Master of Theology and Bachelor of Business Administration, to serve as State Secretary to Minister of Local and Regional Government Anna-Kaisa Ikonen and Minister of Science and Culture Sari Multala as of 1 August. The term of the state secretaries is linked to that of the ministers.
Kokko is transferring to the post of State Secretary from her position as Party Secretary of the National Coalition Party. Before that, she worked as Development Manager at the Confederation of Unions for Professional and Managerial Staff in Finland. She has previously served as Special Adviser to the Minister on several occasions. Kristiina Kokko is also an ordained priest of the Helsinki Diocese.
State secretaries to ministers assist the ministers in matters relating to political steering and preparatory work. They also assist and represent the ministers in drafting policy outlines and coordinating interministerial matters, harmonising policy positions, implementing the Government Programme in the minister's administrative branch, and handling EU and international affairs.
