Finland’s economic recovery has been weaker than expected this year. The general government deficit is wide, and the debt ratio will continue to grow, estimates the Ministry of Finance in its economic forecast published on 18 December.
The Council of the European Union will adopt the recommendations for corrective measures in January when deciding to open an excessive deficit procedure.
Finland does not meet the EU’s criteria for public deficit, according to the European Commission. The Commission is considering proposing that the EU open an excessive deficit procedure for Finland.
