Minister of Finance Riikka Purra will participate in the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington DC on 15–17 April. The main themes for the week of meetings are the impact of the conflict in the Middle East on the global economy and creating jobs and growth in developing economies.
The State of Finland is acquiring the Class A shares in Fingrid currently owned by Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company. The total share purchase price is about EUR 401.3 million. The acquisition will strengthen the State’s ability to steer Fingrid, which a company of strategic interest.
The National Dialogues held in the autumn of 2025 talked about the Finnish concept of ‘sisu’. The dialogues highlighted that sisu is needed in Finland today, as the country is facing challenges such as the weakening of the service structures of the welfare state and changes in the security environment.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) published its annual report on the Finnish economy on Monday 19 January. According to the IMF, efforts to strengthen public finances will have to continue for several years.

The central government's appropriations in the budget proposal total EUR 88.8 billion. Revenue is estimated at EUR 76.6 billion. The budget proposal shows a deficit of EUR 12.1 billion.
