The draft national budget of the Minister of Finance for 2027 will implement policies agreed in the spring spending limits session. The budget proposal totals EUR 92.2 billion, envisioning a deficit of EUR 12.9 billion.

The total level of spending included in the draft budget is EUR 92.2 billion with a deficit of EUR 12.9 billion.

Appropriations totalling EUR 42.5 billion are proposed for the Ministry of Finance and its branch of government. This is EUR 0.7 billion more than in the 2026 Budget. The increase is mainly due to an increase in funding for wellbeing services counties, pensions, interest costs associated with taxes and the EU membership contribution.

Timetable for the preparation of the budget proposal:

• 4 August: Budget session at the Ministry of Finance
• 6 August: The Ministry of Finance will submit its proposal to the Ministries and publish it at budjetti.vm.fi (in Finnish)
• 1–2 September: Government session on the Budget
• 21 September: A debate on the budget proposal will be held at an extraordinary meeting of the Ministerial Finance Committee and a government plenary session, after which the proposal will be published at budjetti.vm.fi (in Finnish).

The OECD Survey on Drivers of Trust in Public Institutions, published for the third time, highlights participation and agency as increasingly important drivers of trust.
