Minister of Finance Purra informs partners in Washington of Finland’s support for PURL initiative

Finland’s Minister of Finance Riikka Purra confirmed Finland’s strong support for Ukraine at meetings in Washington DC last week. Finland will participate in NATO’s Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) and endorse the using of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine. According to Purra, Finland must respond to Russia’s escalating aggression against Ukraine, in particular its deliberate targeting of Ukrainian civilians.

Government submits third supplementary budget proposal for 2025 to Parliament

On Friday 10 October, the Government submitted its third supplementary budget proposal for 2025 to Parliament. Among other things, the proposal sets aside an appropriation for investments in the preparedness of the Finnish Defence Forces’ healthcare services for emergency conditions and updates the tax revenue estimates to correspond to the latest forecast.

The general government debt ratio will stabilise briefly, but not permanently, at the end of the parliamentary term, estimates the Ministry of Finance in its forecast published on 22 September.
