The board’s key tasks are to form a shared view and overall understanding of how information management is organised in public administration and to support administrative branches and the Coordination Group for Digitalisation in planning and decision-making in matters relating to ICT development.

The memorandum prepared in the programme's legislative drafting group was circulated for comments on the Lausuntopalvelu.fi website at the turn of 2025–2026. According to the preliminary schedule, the government proposal will be submitted to Parliament in the late spring of 2026.

It is proposed that the Act on wellbeing services counties be temporarily supplemented so that the Ministry of Finance could, under certain conditions, grant permission to cover accumulated deficits by the end of 2027 or 2028 for those wellbeing services counties for which it is necessary to comply with legislation.

The project will be carried out under the Coordination Group for Digitalisation. The Ministry of Transport and Communications will have the overall responsibility for the project. Other contributors will include the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. Statistics Finland was in charge of the data quality framework project, which improved the usability of public data resources. The aim of the joint project of central government's register authorities was to produce a model and procedures by means of which joint use of data files becomes easier. The data quality framework project was part of the project on opening up and using public data coordinated by the Ministry of Finance.

The project on opening up and using public data promotes the wider and more effective use of public data throughout society in decision-making, business, research and civic engagement. The project was set up for the period 2020–2022.

21.5.2026 | The Act on Healthcare Professionals has been amended to make it possible to receive international assistance for healthcare in different kinds of crises. The amendments will facilitate and speed up the operations of humanitarian assistance providers in Finland when assistance is needed fast. The amendments will enter into force on 25 May 2026.

The task of the working group is to produce development proposals concerning the central government's monitoring target model that can be used to respond to identified information needs and to improve and harmonize the information base available on central government ICT expenditure.

The programme to ease the management of the affairs of a deceased relative is promoting the digitalisation and automation of services related to the death of a relative. The goal is to make it easier for people to use these services in the difficult time following the death of a relative and to make official processes more efficient.

The Programme of Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s Government states that Finland will gradually shift to making digital services the primary channel for accessing the services of public authorities. The Ministry of Finance has launched the Programme to Promote Primarily Digital Official Communications in order to reach these objectives. The Government Chief Information Officer is the programme owner.

The project will implement the licencing and supervision activities of the new gambling system. The project must take into account and coordinate the legislative reform of the gambling system and the legislative reform of regional state administration as well as any changes to these legislative projects.
