27.3.2026 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Ministry of Finance have completed a joint outlook review of the current state of transport taxation and financing, and options for reform. The review report is the first part of the Government’s comprehensive reform of transport taxation and financing set out in the Programme of Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s Government.

The project will be carried out under the Coordination Group for Digitalisation. The Ministry of Transport and Communications will have the overall responsibility for the project. Other contributors will include the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. The project will be implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance (incl. the GenAI network) and the Prime Minister’s Office.

The programme to promote digital services centred on life events will support the preparation of projects developing digital services for life events and business events, propose the implementation of prepared projects and guide and coordinate the implementation of projects that are being launched.

The Programme of Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s Government states that Finland will gradually shift to making digital services the primary channel for accessing the services of public authorities. The Ministry of Finance has launched the Programme to Promote Primarily Digital Official Communications in order to reach these objectives. The Government Chief Information Officer is the programme owner.

The board’s key tasks are to form a shared view and overall understanding of how information management is organised in public administration and to support administrative branches and the Coordination Group for Digitalisation in planning and decision-making in matters relating to ICT development.

The objective of the group is to harmonise practices relating to information management and information guidance in public administration and to promote the interoperability of public services.

The Ministry of Finance establishes a working group to develop the assessment of the macroeconomic impacts related to climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as the green transition. The work will be carried out in cooperation with the relevant ministries, the research community in the field, and the statistical authorities.

A green transition will support structural adjustment of the economy and help to build a carbon-neutral welfare society. The Sustainable Growth Programme will bring forward solutions that can reduce emissions both in Finland and worldwide.
