24.9.2021 | The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health have reviewed the grounds for the recommendation on remote work. The ministries propose to lift the recommendation on 15 October. The ministries estimate that by then the vaccination coverage will be close to the goal set by the Government. This would enable a safe transition to combined remote and office work.  

27.9.2021 | The Finnish economy will continue to grow at a rate of 2.9% in 2022 following recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, estimates the Ministry of Finance in its Economic Survey published on 27 September.

17.2.2022 | On 17 February, the Government issued a resolution ending the national recommendation on remote work after 28 February. After the national recommendation ends, employers are encouraged to follow the instructions provided by regional health authorities, as the situation in different regions may change rapidly.

12.5.2021 | A report of the Ministry of Finance published on 12 May forecasts a boost in economic growth to 2.6 per cent in 2021 supported by a global stimulus as the coronavirus epidemic eases.

7.1.2022 | In its first meeting on Friday 7 January, the ministerial working group on COVID-19 was briefed on the epidemiological situation, the spread of the Omicron variant, the burden on and capacity of the healthcare system, and the progress of vaccinations.

2.12.2021 | The Government recommends that workplaces in areas in the community transmission phase switch to remote work when possible. Recommendation on remote work will be in effect until further notice. The Government issued a government resolution on the matter on 2 December.

8.2.2022 | On Tuesday 8 February, the Ministerial Working Group on Coordinating COVID-19 Response continued the preparations for implementing the decisions made in the Government’s negotiations last week. The ministerial working group also decided in favour of lifting the recommendation on remote work at the end of February. Decrees on easing restaurant restrictions and extending the suspension of the use of the COVID-19 passport in its current form are under preparation.

16.4.2021 | There are major uncertainties associated with the COVID-19 situation in spring 2021. Despite the uncertain situation, it is important to assess the long-term effects of the COVID-19 epidemic on society. Therefore, the central government has drawn up three scenarios for the development of the pandemic and the impact it will have on society over the next few years. The scenarios outlined here are not forecasts, but rather alternative paths of development based on calculations and assessments.

The supplementary budget aims to respond to the direct and essential needs arising from COVID-19 and to safeguard the preparations for the launch of wellbeing services counties.

23.10.2020 | The Government is proposing that its seventh supplementary budget proposal for 2020 would allocate funds particularly for coronavirus-related needs, covering additional costs and compensating for loss of income and revenue.
