Leena Mörttinen appointed as Permanent Under-Secretary for International and Financial Markets Affairs
The Government has appointed Leena Mörttinen, Doctor of Social Sciences, as Permanent Under-Secretary for International and Financial Markets Affairs. She is currently serving as Director General of the Financial Markets Department at the Ministry of Finance.
Leena Mörttinen is currently Director General of the Financial Markets Department at the Ministry of Finance. Prior to this, she was the CEO of Family Business Network Finland and has served in various managerial and expert positions, for example at the Confederation of Finnish Industries, Nordea, the Bank of Finland and the European Central Bank.
The Permanent Under-Secretary for International and Financial Markets assists the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance. The Permanent Under-Secretary manages and coordinates the duties that fall within the purview of the Ministry's Financial Markets Department, Secretariat for EU Affairs, and International Financial Affairs Unit in particular, and the preparatory work on matters dealt with by the EU’s Economic and Financial Committee.
The appointment was decided by the Government on 29 October. Mörttinen was appointed to the position for a fixed period, from 1 November 2020 to 31 March 2022.
