Your Europe online service is a gateway to the EU’s single market

The updated Your Europe online service provides information and advisory services on the rights of citizens and businesses in the single market. In the future, users will be able to access electronic services of many authorities through Your Europe.

The free movement of goods, services, capital and people is a key principle of the European Union. However, EU citizens and businesses are not always aware of their rights in the single market. 

The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union have set objectives to provide more comprehensive and user-friendly information on the single market. In 2018, the EU issued a regulation on establishing a single digital gateway (SDG Regulation). The aim is to offer EU citizens and businesses an easy access to official information, electronic services, and advisory and assistance services. The aim is to increase, supplement and clarify existing online information on the single market and to compile it in one place. The regulation covers a wide range of issues on the single market, such as travel, education, business, workers, taxes, and healthcare and social services. 

The aim is to make it easier for citizens and businesses to find information and to make better use of their rights in the single market. The information and services are now available on one website – Your Europe.

Digital transformation in the EU: current situation and next steps

The European Commission and national and local authorities have engaged in close cooperation to update their information and to digitalise their services. The updated Your Europe service provides a broad range of basic and practical information for EU citizens and businesses both on EU and national level. The support service available in the portal helps users find the most relevant EU or national services for personal advice. With the help of the feedback received, the website will be developed to serve users’ needs as well as possible.

By 2024, Your Europe will offer:

• Access to 21 digital services in all EU countries: The most important administrative processes in the EU countries must be available online.
• Cross-border digital public services: Users should be able to use public services of other EU countries electronically.
• The ‘once-only’ principle: Users should be able to submit certain documents or information (such as a degree certificate or an extract from the trade register) to the authority only once. The documents need not be submitted again to the authority of another EU country.
