10.10.2025 | On Friday 10 October, the Government submitted its third supplementary budget proposal for 2025 to Parliament. Among other things, the proposal sets aside an appropriation for investments in the preparedness of the Finnish Defence Forces’ healthcare services for emergency conditions and updates the tax revenue estimates to correspond to the latest forecast. 

25.9.2024 | The Ministry of Finance and European Commission have signed a Memorandum of Understanding according to which the Finnish contract notice materials will be entered into the Public Procurement Data Space of the European Union. The aim is to make it easier to utilise data concerning public procurements both nationally and, more widely, in the EU.

22.10.2021 | Minister for European Affairs Tytti Tuppurainen and Minister of Local Government Sirpa Paatero will represent the Finnish Government via remote connections at the second Plenary of the Conference on the Future of Europe to be held on 22–23 October 2021 in Strasbourg. Citizens’ representative Ninni Norra will also represent Finland at the event.

6.11.2024 | Minister of Finance Riikka Purra gave the Government’s address to a memorial ceremony for Jews handed over to Nazi Germany by Finland. The memorial was held in Helsinki on 6 November.

27.2.2025 | On Thursday 27 February, the Government submitted a supplementary budget proposal for 2025 to Parliament. The key proposal in the supplementary budget is an increase to the defence materiel assistance provided to Ukraine. The proposal also includes an increase to revenue estimates.

2.9.2025 | The Government of Prime Minister Petteri Orpo has reached a decision on its budget proposal for 2026. The Government’s decisions aim to support economic growth, which is picking up. Supporting economic growth and continuing responsible fiscal management is necessary to ensure the security of people in Finland and safeguard their access to important services going forward.

30.6.2022 | Finland's share of funding from the EU's Recovery and Resilience Facility will decrease to EUR 1.8 billion at current prices, because Finland’s economy has developed better than forecast. Finland will receive a total of EUR 2.6 billion at current prices from the programmes in the EU's recovery plan (NextGenerationEU). The Ministerial Working Group on Sustainable Growth in Finland has outlined how Finland's Recovery and Resilience Plan will be updated to reflect this change.

29.3.2017 | Local and regional democracy is firmly established in Finland, and the country is committed to de-veloping it further. This is the conclusion drawn in the report of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe regarding the state of Finnish local and regional democracy and areas where improvements are called for. The evaluation report was adopted by the Congress at its session on 28 March.

22.9.2021 | Finland and Germany have signed a joint declaration based on the countries’ joint desire to support the progress of the proposed regulation on European digital identity, and to accelerate the development of joint European solutions based on digital identity. Minister of Local Government Sirpa Paatero and Minister of State to the Federal Chancellor and Government Commissioner for Digital Affairs Dorothee Bär signed the joint declaration on Wednesday 22 September 2021.
