12.5.2026 | The Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy has decided that the review of government agency structures will continue with follow-up studies on potential longer-term changes. The follow-up studies will be completed before the end of this year.

11.3.2026 | On 11 March, Parliament passed a bill for legislative amendments that will cause public authorities to primarily send digital messages to people who are already using digital services provided by the authorities. Paper mail will remain an option. This change is scheduled to enter into force on 14 April once the amendments have been adopted.

28.11.2017 | OwalGroup has completed its independent final assessment of the National Architecture for Digital Services (KaPA) implementation programme. The programme is considered as having been successful as regards, among other things, its realistic purposes, being on schedule and resources. The programme was completed under the planned budget and the Suomi.fi services in the programme were completed on schedule.

2.3.2017 | The Government is proposing to Parliament the establishment of counties on 1 July 2017 and the transfer of responsibility for the organisation of social and health care services from municipalities to counties as of 1 January 2019. The Government proposal for the health, social services and regional government reform was put to Parliament on 2 March.

8.12.2020 | The Government proposes that wellbeing services counties be established and healthcare, social welfare and rescue services be reformed. The proposed counties would be established as soon as possible after the passing and approval of the relevant bills. The bills would enter into force in stages, the first ones on 1 July 2021 and the last ones on 1 January 2023. However, Parliament needs to pass the legislative package before the reform can enter into force.
