The Act will enter into force on 1 January 2020, when the new Digital and Population Data Services Agency (Finnish Digital Agency) will begin operations in Finland.

23.5.2018 | At the beginning of 2020, a new Digital and Population Data Services Agency (Finnish Digital Agency) will begin its operation in Finland. The agency will be created when the Population Register Centre, local register offices and the Development and Steering Unit for the Local Register Offices operating under the Regional State Administrative Agency for Eastern Finland are merged into a single agency.

The investigation focuses on finding the most practical ways of implementing electronic identification for the public administration’s online services. At present, identification is based on online banking credentials, Mobile ID or an identity card.

28.11.2017 | OwalGroup has completed its independent final assessment of the National Architecture for Digital Services (KaPA) implementation programme. The programme is considered as having been successful as regards, among other things, its realistic purposes, being on schedule and resources. The programme was completed under the planned budget and the Suomi.fi services in the programme were completed on schedule.

The Ministry of Finance and the State Business Development Company Vake took part in the competition with their joint Hackers against exclusion challenge. The challenge sought for innovations based on artificial intelligence, which could be utilised to prevent social exclusion of young men.
